Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide and, in some areas, the 1st leading cause of death for people aged 1-14 years. Here in the Northwest, where we are literally surrounded by beautiful rivers, lakes, and the Sound from which our area derives its name; where we love our boating, fishing, sailing, kayaking, and other water sports, this is—or ought to be—a serious concern, especially for parents.
The simple act of signing your child up for swim lessons could save his/her life. Some children are too bold for their own good around water. Others are frightened by water and miss out on summer fun because of their fear. Both types will benefit from swim lessons.
Confident, competent swimmers are safe in the water and have a wide variety of fun activities open to them. Their parents breathe a little easier, too!
